Cpl Walter Arnold served first as a bugler in the 1st Co Coastal Artillery Corps out of Fort Hancock in Sandy Hook, NJ, and in Oct 1918 transferred to Battery A of the 1st Trench Mortar Battalion. Back of the photo reads, "if i send you one of these you can give that to some pretty girl and tell her to write to me. har har har".
Will, Sr, was one of Henry Newton Arnold's children. He and Bertha raised Tom Arnold's son Walter after Walter's mother died when he was very young.
