Ira Wintford Seaver Funeral services for Ira Wintford Seaver, well-known farmer and stockman of the Lath Branch neighborhood, who died Saturday morning, were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Cheney Memorial Chapel. The county employees attended in a body. The services were conducted by the Rev. Claude N. Craven of the Grade Baptist Tabernacle. A duet composed of Mrs. Leslie Wolfe and W.L. Tweedy sang two numbers. Mrs. Oscar Covey was organist. Internment was in Evergreen Cemetary. Pallbearers were Walter Clark, Charles Clark, Fitz L. Barnes, Raymond Hinderliter, Harry Simmons, and Walter Sauvain. Mr. Seaver, a son of William and Fannie E. (Shannon) Seaver, was born on Route 1, four miles east of the city, Dec. 20, 1877. He was married to Edith May Gorse at Nevada, Sept. 21, 1898. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Roy, Route 1; Glenn H., Pleasanton, Howard I., Fort Scott, and Frank H., Jefferson City, Mo., and one daughter, Mrs. Delbert Dikeman, Route 2. There are 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Four brothers and sisters are deceased. He was the last of a family of nine children. The father operated the first home-owned grocery store in Fort Scott during the early days.
