I was certainly sad to hear of his passing, though the mourning for journalism (especially televised) was already well under way. The best thing we can teach our kids these days, I think, is the value of being a good information filter and honing a sharp skepticism. Walter certainly represented a more trusting time an America, and I think it’s that that I miss most of all.
