Deep thought…

If Michele Bachmann were an Afghan Taliban or Iraqi cleric talking smack like this, we’d have blown up her car with a Predator drone by now.

…..

BTW, Al Franken won. Again. (What, fourth time now?) Now look for Norm “Scorched Earth” Coleman to appeal to the State Supreme Court…then the Federal Appeals Court…then the US Supreme Court. Then look for him to slink back to Brooklyn in a few years after he tries to run for Governor and discovers that he’s completely squandered whatever support he had even within his own party. For the most part, we Minnesotans are a patient, tolerant bunch. Our idea of road rage is to pull alongside a lousy driver and shake our head in disappointment. But this whole affair has got most of us–liberal, moderate, and conservative alike–ready to run Norm out on a rail.

  1. If Michele Bachmann were an Afghan Taliban she’d be under a burqa and peering at us silently from behind a kitchen window. It’s something to consider.

Why do you get me all riled up like this? Now I’ll have to get on my anonymous Salon blog and rant like a crone. At least Norm Coleman just makes me feel tired.

    Bah.

    Good point.

I rile you up because you need to keep your circulation going in your state of knee-surgery-induced inactivity.

  3. Kick ‘em both to the curb, says I. But them, I’m feeling contentious today.

Seriously, though, in case you didn’t notice, it’s April. Just get someone in office, and leave the election nonsense to the professionals (I’m looking at you, Florida).

  4. How depressing is it to actually be *relieved* that S. Smalley is finally victorious? I think I feel a rumbling at the foundation of Western society.

    (R.W. Extremist, under surveillance.)

  5. Bi-Wing Extremist??

    I prefer “equal opportunity hater”.

I doubt you’re under surveillance, Duffy. You might have your paranoiac tendencies, but I don’t envision you holed up in a mountainside cabin with a group of camo-wearing, AK-47-toting semi-literates discussing the need to kill liberals to save the United States from Marxism.

Oh, and for the record, I voted for the 3rd-party candidate. I support Al now that he’s the emergent senator-elect, but I have my problems with him, too. Norm repulses me for many reasons, not just because he used to have an “R” before his name. (Let’s not forget that he tried, and failed, to run as a Democrat before switching parties. That was after trying, and failing, to run as a Republican and then switching parties.)

My favorite-ever Norm quote (on whether his Arctic-drilling vote was influenced by calls and e-mails from constituents): “I don’t really pay much attention to calls and e-mails. I’m just happy that I voted with the side that won.”

  6. We’ve got one of those in Ohio, too (“..didn’t pay much attention…”). Apparently there’s enough to go around.

    (pox, houses, blah blah blah)
