Yes, that's the same road show that's coming to St Paul in a couple of weeks (albeit on a much larger scale).

Another "yecchh" aspect about the upcoming exhibition is that each visitor will get a "boarding pass" as they enter that has the name of an actual Titanic passenger. At the end, you visit a wall of names to find out if your passenger lived or died. And don't forget to stop by the Northtown mall to spin the prize wheel and get your free family photo on the grand staircase! (Note to Web site URL creator: residents of St Paul really hate when their city is interchageably called Minneapolis.)

Enough of the fishing, I say. Sometimes the right thing to do is to leave things as they are, where they are, and walk on.

I know an ancient man out in the county whose rolling field of burial mounds is hayed every year and no more. He'd never allow anyone to dig.

The idea of that truck makes me sad. The website, sadder yet.

What a tasteful website. Sheesh.

You know, I saw that Titanic truck (I assume it was the same one?) in the parking lot of a shopping mall over here last week or so. They were making people fill out a survey, or some sort of advertising thing, before waiting in a Disney style rope line. The truck made this great whooshing generator noise, and the whole thing just had a tactless air about it. I passed the spectacle by, no particular reason, but I am glad after reading your post that I did.

Really good post. Indeed, about the car wreck mentality. I don't know why people, and Americans in particular, take such a thrill to evidence of human suffering.
