Bachmann represents our 6th Congressional District; I live in the 1st. Only voters of a Representative's district have the power of petition and recall. I honestly can't believe she got re-elected last November, even <i>after</i> her call for an investigation to expose "anti-American" members of Congress. (Hey, Michele, I've got a good idea for what you could call that investigative board. How about The House Un-American Activities Committee? What? No, it has nothing to do with Dr House.) It's probably partly because her district is composed of a lot of Old Money, and partly because her opponent himself drifted half a bubble off plum in the other direction. The way I see it, right now she's the best argument the left has against radicalization of the Republican party. During the campaign, a lot of commentators were calling that wing the GOP's "base". But really it's the fringe, and if the Republican's want to start winning elections again, they're going to have to denounce the Bachmanns, Limbaughs, Colters, and Hannitys of the world and re-identify their party with their true, halfway right of center base. It's exactly what the Islamic world needed to do with the dangerous and extremist 2% of their population that garnered all the world's attention and shaped western opinions of Muslims as a whole.
