Thanks, TT. Though I've done my share of journalistic photography--mostly out of necessity; I was not a staff photographer--I'm really just an amateur doing the best imitation of a pro photog that I can.

Strikethru, be careful; you don't want to be like me! The heroin analogy was not altogether hyperbole. A typical typewriter conversation between the spousal unit and myself goes something like this: "Another typewriter?! Don't you already have two or three like that one?" "Yes. But not in this color."

Gorgeous typewriters. I am glad I'm not the only one who, sheepishly, keeps adding to the collection...

Olivander, your photographs are superb. Really first rate. I imagine you have a professional photography background but if not here's saluting a very successful snapper. Some of your landscapes, portraits and pictures of typewriter innards are just stunning.

I certainly don't have a monopoly on the name, feel free to use it if it's right. Originally, my Norma was going to be Betty (a la Grable) but she informed me otherwise.

Yeah, I remembered your own Norma Jean about 10 minutes after I posted. I'm pretty sure there's room in the world for two Normas, though.

The fact that she's a little bit twitchy inside makes the moniker even more appropriate, I think.

Thanks for the link. I shall peruse that.

Oh pish, my own Norma Jean will be insanely jealous...
http://flickr.com/photos/mpclemens/tags/normajean/

Chosen due to the vintage of the machine, the curves, and the fact that an otherwise ordinary machine was dressed up with that lovely robin's egg blue.

Surely there's a starlet out there for yours, though:

Norma Jean is perfect. I mean it. God that's a pretty typewriter.

My Mamie is a '48 Silent with that same body style and a DREAM to type with.

You are the luckiest man alive!
